Roxanne Benefiel (she/her) is a multifaceted creative professional and astrologer who seamlessly blends her expertise in branding, culture, and communication with a deep, lifelong passion for astrology. Aiming to make astrology accessible and relatable, Roxanne uses her unique background to demystify the craft and connect individuals with the profound wisdom it offers.
With a BFA in Graphic Design and a Masters in Brand Strategy with honors from the Masters in Branding Program at SVA NYC, Roxanne’s creative journey has been shaped under the mentorship of Debbie Millman. She returns to the program each spring as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Branding Social Movements course, continuing to foster her passion for educating and guiding others in the art of brand storytelling and activism.
Astrology has been an integral part of Roxanne’s life since she was 10, when a birthday card sparked a deep connection to the practice. While she doesn't hold a formal degree in astrology, Roxanne has spent over 25 years studying and practicing, considering astrology not just as a tool for understanding the self, but as a universal practice that transcends religious and cultural boundaries. She now offers her astrological services publicly, helping others align with their cosmic and earthly rhythms.
Raised in the wilderness of Southern Colorado's Weminuche and San Juan forests, Roxanne’s connection to nature runs deep. Her family, rooted in the land for five generations, saw nature as their church, spending Sundays climbing mountains, skiing, camping, and exploring. Through her studies and ancestral research, Roxanne discovered her lineage is tied to mountain people; Scottish Highlanders, the Basque of the Pyrenees, and the Southern French Alps, cultures that deeply honor the land. This connection is mirrored in her stellium in Capricorn, a sign she associates with the mountainous terrain and the steady, enduring energy it represents.
Over the past several years, Roxanne has developed Ecostrology, a practice that bridges astrology and ecology, creating a framework for understanding the interconnectedness of our cosmic and natural environments. In this practice, astrology becomes a tool to deepen our connection to nature, offering a grounded, spiritual approach to personal growth and ecological awareness. For Roxanne, astrology is not just a science or a tool for understanding the self, but a living, breathing practice that calls for commitment, study, and belief, much like a religion, inviting us to connect more deeply with the world around us.
Roxanne’s journey reflects a deep commitment to aligning with nature, the cosmos, and the wisdom of our shared histories. Whether through her work as a branding strategist, an educator, or an astrologer, she helps individuals and organizations find meaning, connection, and purpose in their work and lives.
